Tired, but proud
Rosa Imelda Majia Caces lives 45 minutes east of La Ceiba not far from the ocean in northern Honduras. Her main enterprise is the raising and selling of cattle. She and her family are caretakers of land that is host to a multitude of crops. She is permitted to graze her 12 cows on the land as part of the agreement with the land holder. She also manages access to a desirable recreation area, a swimming hole (an area called Balneario La Sirena). She is permitted to charge a nominal fee from visitors to the area as well as a fee to use the bathroom facilities.
Rosa had 7 children, 2 of which did not make it. Rosa also has 5 grandchildren. Life has been difficult because she lost her house and belongings and had to start from scratch. Adelante Foundation has helped tremendously. Rosa has been a client for seven years and has had 13 loans. With these loans she has purchased livestock to earn a living and performed home improvements to help build their family home.
“Adelante has helped me to build my house little by little. And now, I have it half done! Thanks to God and others here, with the help of these loans we have worked a lot to make tamales, to buy calves, raise, and sell for profit, and we also sell the milk. So we go on managing money well in order to go and pay and function, forward!”
Rosa’s most recent loan has been to buy cement to do the floors in the interior of their home. She is tired, but very proud.
