At the heart of the Adelante Foundation’s mission are the people who make it all happen. Among them is José Fermín, a dedicated Adelante Credit Officer who has been walking alongside women entrepreneurs in Honduras since 2019. His story, featured in our recently published 2024 Annual Report, is a powerful reminder of the daily dedication, care, and resilience that define our field staff—and the transformational journey they help make possible for thousands of women each year.

“What I love most about my work is the opportunity to support the women of our country,” José shared. “To know that we can offer them meaningful opportunities to move forward and improve their quality of life and that of their families.”

Adelante officers like José travel from community to community, often across rough terrain and under the hot sun, to meet women where they are. They do far more than disburse and collect loans. They serve as mentors, coaches, and trusted allies—guiding our clients in everything from financial literacy to entrepreneurship, helping them build sustainable businesses that uplift not just households, but entire communities.

José lives by Adelante’s core values: Unity, Discipline, Hard Work, and Courage. It’s a mantra he carries into every client visit, fueling his commitment to excellence and service. His hope for the future? That Adelante continues to grow and expand, reaching more women with the tools and support they need to thrive. And he’s determined to be part of that future—giving his all to help change even more lives.

José’s testimony is just one of many in our 2024 Annual Report, where we share powerful reflections from the field and celebrate the people—clients and staff—who embody Adelante’s mission every day. We invite you to read the full report, be inspired by the courage of women entrepreneurs, and see how lives are being transformed across Honduras, one village and one loan at a time.

👉 Read the 2024 Annual Report now and meet more of the heroes behind Adelante’s impact.

Because behind every success story is someone like José—showing up, reaching out, and believing in the power of possibility.
