Legacy donors are a community of givers who are making microfinance and empowerment of women part of their lasting legacy. By planning a future gift to Adelante Foundation, these gifts ensure that our work will continue to serve women and their families throughout the most impoverished communities of Honduras.
Legacy giving is one of the most powerful actions you can take to help end poverty in Honduras. A legacy commitment is an investment in transparent, sustainable work that will directly impact some of the world’s most vulnerable populations and transform the future for generations to come.

Adelante Legacy Stories
September, 2021 – Mike Sowerwine notified Adelante Foundation that he designated the organization to receive a percentage of his estate within his will. Funds will be allocated to support expansion of Adelante agriculture loan products. Women wishing to pursue enterprises in the farming sector in Honduras often lack access to financial capital needed for seeds, and costs related to production. Mike’s gift will allow Adelante to increase capacity to serve more women and their families in rural regions of Honduras. Join us in celebrating Mike Sowerwine’s legacy and the advancement of economic opportunities for impoverished women that help break cycles of poverty.
“Having lived in Honduras and visited many times, I saw first hand the beauty of the country but also the abject poverty. Assisting the Adelante Foundation in its efforts to empower women to break the cycle of indigence is something that I am glad to support.”
Please note, it is the general policy of Adelante Foundation that all gifts shall be presumed to be for unrestricted charitable purposes unless there is an explicit request otherwise. This allows the organization to apply the funds to the most pressing needs at the time of funding.
