Wendy Helps to Empower Other Honduran Women
Being a Credit Officer is a demanding job, but Wendy makes it look easy. She joined our team in the Progreso office last summer and has excelled at helping hundreds of women to lift themselves out of poverty through hard work and courage.
She says, “As a woman, each day I surprise myself. We demonstrate that women have great ability. Normally, with machismo that exists in other places, they say, ‘No, you’re supposed to stay at home. Go find the kitchen.’ No, we Honduran women prove that we’re efficient, that we’re capable of doing the same work as a man. We’re capable of moving forward, of starting a business, of growing. And this is a source of pride for me as a woman, to see how other women lift themselves up. These women give the honor to the Foundation to be able to call ourselves ‘Adelante.’ They move adelante (ahead). We Honduran women stand out in this way.”
